District Honor Band

Four of our students received good news when the District Honor Band results came out. Dakota Maulding was named as an Alternate for this band. Josh Bernholtz, Meagan Raley and Micah Prescott all were named as members of this years District VI Honor Band. Congrats to all of these students on this accomplishment !!

All State Auditions

Congratulations to Jeff Welch, Meagan Raley and Micah Prescott on passing the first round audition for the Georgia All State Band. These three members get to audition again in January at the second round for a spot in the All State Bands held in Savannah in 2010.

Additionally, Micah Prescott has earned first chair honors in our District Honor band on percussion !!

We will have results for all the students and their possible placement into the District Honor Band later this coming week. Thanks to all those who prepared for and showed up for the audition and Congratulations to our students who are moving on !

A Nice Surprise!

I got up this morning, popped on the computer to give Facebook (Hi, my name is Mr. D and I’m a Facebook junkie…) a quick look and what do I find?  A post from Susan D. letting us all know that the Northgate Marching Band and our first ever float won 1st Place in the School/Church division and 2nd Place overall in the parade.  How cool is that?!  Congrats to all who helped put the float together…well done folks!!!

Winter Concert Time

Hey Y’all,

The band program’s winter concert will be held next Monday, December 16, startng at 7:00 pm in the main cafeteria at Northgate.  This year we’ll have a dessert reception along with the concert.  Also, we’re holding a food drive to collect food for folks in our community who are in need…so…bring some canned or boxed goods, come have some dessert and enjoy our winter concert.

Newnan Christmas Parade

Marching season may be over for there is still a little marching to be done.  This past weekend was the annual Christmas Parade in downtown Newnan.  To shake things up just a little we even had a float thanks to the efforts of some of our band and guard parents.

So now you’re expecting pictures, right?!  Of course you are!  Here goes…
