Winterguard – Harrison Comp…

The Northgate Scholastic Winterguard kicked off their 2010 season tonight with an 11th place finish at the SAPA competition at Harrison HS yesterday afternoon.  As I mentioned in a previous post their show is very much a work-in-progress at this point in the season.  Its very good so far, can’t wait to see how much it changes from performance to performance…in the mean time here are a few photos…

Practice, Practice, Practice

Winterguard rehearsals are in full swing and their performance is coming together.  For those not completely familiar with the Armstrongs’ way of doing things, you may be a little surprised to not see the whole show on the floor at the first competition this weekend.  But fear not, the goal isn’t to have everything ready for the first show then cruise and tweak for the season.  Instead the goal is to constantly add to the show, refining and tweaking the sections as they are added so that the performance is at its peak at the SAPA Championships at the end of March.

Winter Concert

I bet y’all are thinkin’ “wow, Mr. D is gettin’ slack about updating the blog these days.”  Well, you’re right and its time to get caught up, get back in the groove and move forward.

So whats been going on?  Well, lets start out with some photos from the Winter Concert held on December 6:

LATEST UPDATE ON MLK PARADE

As of 10:30 PM tonight, the parade is still on as scheduled. No parent or student should put themselves in danger traveling to the school if roads are impassable in your neighborhood.

Please be SAFE and make plans to be at the school at 9:45 in the morning if it is safe for you to do so. Don’t forget to bring your permission form if you have not turned it in yet or get your parents to stay long enough to fill out a permission form if you have not done so.

MLK Parade still on as of Friday 2 PM

Currently, we have been told the county will plan on having buses for us to allow us to perform at the MLK parade as scheduled. Students should report at 9:45 AM to the bandroom to get their uniforms. They should be seated and dressed 10:20 so that we can load buses and leave approximately 10:30 AM. We should return following the parade approximately 1:30 PM.

Any student who did not turn in a permission form needs to either bring it with them or have their parent fill out the form when they are dropped off for the parade.

If there are any changes to the schedule or our ability to participate, they will be posted here.
